A Shadow Box Fence in Tanner Planation

The Homeowner's Association required that all corner lots have a 4' High fence. This is an example of how to adhere to the HOAs requirements while also providing the customer partial privacy. This particular area within Tanner Plantation also requires that the fences installed should be in a shadow box style. We installed this fence with a "tight" shadow box style to give the homeowner added privacy. We graduated the corner from a 6' High to a 4' High at the corner where the property meets the roads that intersect.

Our customer wanted to open up her view to the marsh behind her house. We installed a new custom build 4' picket fence across the back after the homeowner had the old 8' wood fence taken down. The over 100 year old Charleston brick fence along the sides of her property needed to be restored in a few areas and the columns were leaning. The following pictures were taken as a progression of our work.

We applied Cabot’s Wood Toned Deck & Siding Stain – Clear & Translucent - Natural to the inside and the outside. Application methods used were by spraying, rolling and brushing in the stain. We are featuring Cabot's products, which can be found at Lowes. This product states that application lasts 4 years whereas other brands need to be applied every year.

I wish I would of thought to take pictures but my girls had to bring over all their friends to show them our new fence. I walked out to the back yard because I didn't hear anyone and having a pool (even though it's fenced in and covered for the winter) I had to check.

There they are, 7 little girls with their noses pressed up against the fence. I asked them what on earth were they doing and all at the same time turned to tell me that they were smelling the new fence. Apparently they thought the fence smelled pretty good.

Not only my family but the neighborhood is enjoying the fence.

The fence in the back, which runs from front to back side is a 6' Treated Wood Privacy.

The 4' picket and walk gate in front run along the driveway to the detached garage. We custom cut our pickets.

Posts were set for a 40' - 4' Wood Pickett along the interior driveway side with room for a 4' walk gate. Posts were also set for the 120' - 6' Wood Privacy around the exterior of the backyard.

Vinyl Double Drive Gate Gets Rammed & Repaired

The homeowner calls and asks us to take a look at his damaged gate.

We performed a custom repair by ordering vinyl slats, top rail and the end post - cutting all the pieces to size then laying out and cutting the holes to the underside of the top rail for receiving the slats took some time. The end result was a perfect fit and our customer was extremely happy.

If the customer had decided to replace the entire double drive gate with new, it would have cost approximately $1,500. By replacing the damaged parts, he was saved over $1,000.

Homeowners are asking us to replace their wooden double drive gates with alumunim. This is an Alumi-Guard Aluminum Estate Gate, Ascot Style, picture taken recently of a project we completed in Crowfield Plantation.

This homeowner added "new" style to the property by changing out the front wood picket double drive gate to an Alumn-Guard Flat Top Ascot 3-Channel double drive gate. Now that is a mouth full, but it is a WOW when you pass by the home.

Aluminum Slats Add an Element of Privacy

Installing aluminum slats through the 6' Chain Link fencing creates a little privacy along the yard plus A LOT of color for this customer in North Charleston.

REMINISCE on THIS FENCE !!!!

The pictures below are the completed stage of this custom built fence. We installed approximately 182' of deck board into a shadow box style and two 4' walk gates. The gates and custom "gentle" concave top border and post caps will be shown in the next set of pictures.

This sturdy fence made out of treated deck board will outlive many of the fences you normally see made out of the treated dog ear boards. We are progressing with the completion on this project and below are pictures taken with one of the walk gates installed and the start of decorative "gentle" concave cut top with post caps.

We turned this final product over to our customer in December 2008. The customer has indicated that the post caps will be painted black to match the gate hardware and a light yellow stain on the fence boards will be applied after the wood has dried out.

We are eagerly waiting for Spring to come back and take more picture of the final finished fence!
